Biography
I was born to Italian parents that loved and promoted all of the arts. I was about 6 years old when I remember my mom setting me up at the kitchen table with a variety of supplies. It soon became apparent that I was born with a gift. I suppose my inspiration for life and nature came from growing up on a farm in the country. The sounds of nature, and the aromas of the earth instilled a passion for trying to recreate the beauty around me.
As a young woman, I studied at the Society of Arts and Crafts, which is now known as the Center for Creative Studies. During this time, I also worked at an Art gallery in Detroit, framing the work of other artists, as well as absorbing the ambiance. I’ve taken years of training from Pastelist August Gloss, Portrait artist Paolo Copini and Shirley Hathaway just to name a few. I also gather knowledge from frequent visits to museums and galleries.
I am married and have raised 2 beautiful daughters and a son. I continue being inspired about life as I study nature and color by working in my garden. This has helped me fine-tune my color palette and has allowed me to pay attention to detail. Many seasons have brought forth life-changing experiences. The inspirations that I have gotten from these experiences, whether good or bad have transformed my work.
I hope that you will enjoy my creations as much as I love creating them. |
