Sierra Cole

Boiled wool, felting or fulling. No matter what it's called, it is the process of matting wool by subjecting it to moisture, heat and pressure to create a dense fabric. Felting has been known to man for thousands of years and has origins from around the world.

These handbags are an updated and modernized form of the oldest fabric known to mankind. This ancient process is transformed into modern handbags and hats that are created and designed entirely by the artist. By combining sheep's wool with silk, llama, alpaca, cotton and soy  these handbags are a unique landscape of color and texture that make them truly wearable art.

They are hand knitted, then washed in hot water, air dried for several days and then lined with fabric. The final product is a unique combination of hand spun fibers and yarns, turning this ancient process into functional and portable pieces of art.
